Neighborhood Evangelism

      The Lord has laid on our hearts a vision to evangelize our neighborhoods, here in the U.S., by mailing neighborhood evangelism packages, which consist of a "Dear Neighbor" letter, tracts and a follow up card. It is the Holy Spirit that convicts the hearts of sinners either through the spoken Word or the written Word.

     The message of the great commission is to tell everyone the Good News that says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

     The method to convey this Good News to every creature can be different. Some are called to go out and preach to the masses, others are called to use radio or television to spread the Good News, yet some of us are called to spread the Good News of God’s saving grace and mercy through the printed page. Even though the medium used to spread the Gospel is different, every believer is called to contribute towards World Evangelism by reaching his or her world for the Lord. That does not mean the whole world would be saved, but the whole world should at least hear about the one who died for their sins so that they don’t have to die in their sins. After they hear the Good News, it is up to them to make their own decision. Our responsibility is to present the Good News in Love. "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end come" (Matthew 24:14).  It seems like Jesus Christ is not going to come unless we get up from our comfortable sofas and pews and offer God’s comfort to those who are headed towards Eternal discomfort. We should tell them Jesus’ invitation to "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).

The plan for Neighborhood Evangelism is as follows:

  1. First we choose a specific neighborhood to reach,  one zipcode at a time.

  2. We pray for all the residences in that particular zipcode so that they would be open for the Gospel and that the Lord would give us a harvest.

  3. When we sense it is time to sow the seed of the Word of God, we send through the mail, an Evangelism Package to all the residences in that specific zipcode. This is called "saturation mailing". The number of residences in a specific zipcode may vary from neighborhood to neighborhood. For example, the first zipcode we are considering to reach has over 5000 residences.

  4. We follow up on those who respond to the Gospel by sending them new believers’ booklet and referring them to sound Evangelical Churches.

  5. We continue to reach new neighborhoods as the Lord directs.

We can send 100 Neighborhood Evangelism Packages to reach 100 households, for only $50. On the average, each household has 3 to 4 residents. That comes up to reaching 300 to 400 people for $50.
